EASTER/PASSOVER PREP

ABRAHAM  Genesis 15:12-14  God promised Abraham that he would be the father of a nation, the lineage of Messiah.  He is told they will be delivered after 400 years in a foreign land.

JOSEPH  Genesis 37, 39-47   The 12 sons of Jacob are the 12 tribes of Israel.  The story of Joseph tells how God placed them in Egypt.

MOSES  Exodus 1-17 tells the story of God’s great deliverance from Egypt when the Passover was instituted.  See also 1 Corinthians 10:1-4 & John 6:30-35, 47-58

In scripture Egypt is a “type” of the world.  It symbolizes the oppression, slavery, & bondage that are brought about by sin.  The Exodus foreshadows the deliverance we receive by our Lamb of God, Jesus. John 1:29 & 36  Leaven symbolizes sin as well. 1 Corinthians 5:6-8
